Our Austin Favorites

We'll get straight to the point, BBQ

  • Franklin's - the Austin icon, and the standard by which all Texas brisket is measured. Worth the wait in line.

  • Kerlin - One of the newer arrivals on the Austin scene, Kerlin was opened by Arizona transplants (so it's OBVIOUSLY good), and in no time found its way to the top of the BBQ charts, which doesn't come easily around these parts.

  • Valentinas - Founded by the youngest female pitmaster in the U.S., this South Austin (aka where Nina & Scott live) TexMex|BBQ spot is working its way to stealing the mantle of "the standard."

Other Food & Drinks

  • Suerte - contemporary take on traditional Mexican & great drinks

  • Red Ash - wood-fire, hand-crafted Italian restaurant in the ATX warehouse dristrict.

  • Bouldin Acres - The Adult Amusement Park: sports bar with plenty of outside seating, TVs, Pickleball courts, cornhole, and a playground to keep the little ones occupied.

  • Cosmic Coffee & Beer Garden - Funky hangout serving coffee, beer, and a host of food trucks - all with plenty of open space to sit & hangout

  • Rainey Street - street of renovated houses turned into bars, around the corner from your hotels

  • Sixth Street - Head West for a string of places visited by former students, Head East for the newest area of bars, patios, restaurants and hangouts, and of course, head central for the world famous "Dirty Sixth"

  • Easy Tiger - Bakery, Brewery, Beer Garden, Eatery and a great way to spend a day.

  • Holdout Brewery - laidback brewery in West Austin, with great eats

  • Austin Beer Garden Brewing Co. (the AGBG) - Name says it all, and just around the corner from our Austin HQ

  • Trudy's - perfect place for hangover Migas (or just Migas if you didn't visit Rainey or 6th Street)

  • Amy's Ice Cream - creative ice cream flavors, try the Oreo

  • Paperboy - great brunch spot

  • LENOIR - fancier (for Austin) food & wine garden

  • Food Truck Scene - The number of Austin restaurants that got their start as an Austin Food Truck is incredible -- so if you find a truck, hop in line, and prepare to be amazed

LIVE MUSIC CAPITAL OF THE WORLD

In addition to Keeping Austin Weird, being the live music capital of the world was Austin's claim to fame.  Of course, today, the center of all things live music is your living room while live music streams on TV.

Stay tuned to this section for what's back open and going on the weekend of the 17th...
